St. Anne Institute Preschool and Daycare is an integrated program serving 3-5 year olds in the community. Students who attend our preschool program (8:30am-2:00pm) are referred from area school districts after being approved for special education services by the Committee on Preschool Special Education. Our daycare program is open to all children and follows the school calendar from 8:00am-5:00pm daily. Our daycare happily accepts Department of Social Services funding and Workforce Development funding. Welcome to our page!
Meet Camryn. He is just one of our 3-year-old daycare students who had fun this summer! In addition to exploring nature, learning about the ocean, and taking field trips, he also participated in our daily swim program. Camryn’s mother had this to say about her experience with St. Anne’s, “Camryn loves this daycare, talks about it all the time and can’t wait until the next day to see his friends and teachers. I’m very happy with the switch to St. Anne’s Daycare and happy with the smile on my son’s face.” Camryn’s teachers are happy to have him here and to see that smile every day!
Now meet some of our staff:
Theresa Smith, our special education teacher, was asked why she has stayed at SAI for the past 15 years and replied, “because it is a family!” Emily Kowalski, one of our teaching assistants, echoed that sentiment, stating, “working at SAI is like working with a big, loving family.” Nichole Taylor, our head teaching assistant for the past 3 years, believes that she has stayed because she “loves to help children improve their behavior and prepare for what lies ahead in the upcoming school year.” T.T. Devane, our daycare teacher/coordinator, knows exactly what she has enjoyed most about her 15 years at SAI, stating, “there is nothing more rewarding than helping a child to become more confident in the classroom and with peer relationships. I also love that there’s never a dull moment!”
Graduation Day 2015
As Xavier moves on to kindergarten, his mother shared her experience at SAI, ”we finally found a place that was a perfect fit for Xavier. Though I wish we had found St. Anne’s sooner, I’m very happy we found them when we did. Xavier had been through so much at the other schools that I didn’t realize how deeply it had affected him. Now he says, “they understand me. I love St. Anne’s. It’s the best school for me.” It warms my heart and solidifies my confidence in the staff. He’s shown so much progress. I wish SAI offered kindergarten! We don’t want to leave!”
St. Anne’s Daycare is conveniently located at 160 North Main Ave. and offers a loving, stimulating environment to local families at an affordable price. For more information about taking a tour of the daycare and meeting the dedicated staff, please contact Theresa Devane at 437-6735.

The long term focus is integration into kindergarten or other public school special education programs. Integrated within the preschool is a NYS Office of Children and Family Services licensed day care program, in which children from the community participate in all the activities afforded to the pre-school children.
